Club championships

The golf played during the weekend was almost as spectacular as the weather.  The last three days consisted of tightly played matches.  Even on Labor Day a win felt like work!

Fresh off surgery, Fran Gavin was able to claim the 3rd flight title.  Fran showed Tommy Keaney that many years of course knowledge is a valuable asset.  We’re sure to see Tommy in many more club championship finals.

Dan Keyser, still riding his Sr. Club Championship high, was able to capture the 2nd flight.  A hot streak in the middle of his front nine helped him top Rich McHale. Rich, the fan favorite, made it to the finals as the flights top seed.

Our 1st flight was won by Matt Monahan.  A sizzling 37 on the front proved to be the difference.  Lex Malas had a strong back nine but eventually ran out of holes.

In a rematch of last year’s Women’s Championship final, Beth Gavin prevailed over Judy Scherzer.  This was Beth’s sixth straight title and eighth overall.  Judy will take this experience to next week’s Knockout Tournament, where Judy has made it to the finals.

Speaking of six straight titles and eight overall, Matt Wood claimed the Men’s Championship over Dustin Conte in 29 exciting holes. Dustin’s solid play wasn’t enough to overtake Matt’s stellar short game.

Thanks to everyone who played!

Winners – Dan, Beth, Matt, & Fran
